An internal opportunity for a HCPC‑registered Senior Biomedical Scientist within the Microbiology Department at Wye Valley NHS Trust, County Hospital, Hereford (HR1 2ER). You will deliver advanced microbiological analysis and surveillance, rotate through bench areas and lead specialist functions such as Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, equipment management and staff training. The post includes professional oversight and day‑to‑day supervision of Biomedical Scientists, Assistant Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants, making complex technical decisions, supporting CPD and ensuring compliance with ISO 15189 and UKAS standards. This is a seven‑day service role with on‑call duties and work with Category 2 and 3 organisms, so resilience, sound judgement and a collaborative, safety‑first approach are essential.
