They have the freedom and authority to act and make autonomous decisions in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. The post holder works at the level of advanced clinical practice and has developed and can evidence the underpinning competencies applicable to the specialty or subject area, i.e., the knowledge, skills, and behaviours appropriate to the healthcare professionals (HCP) setting and job role. The role provides an opportunity for patients to avoid the need to be referred to a GP, thereby enabling them to receive timely care and negate unnecessary delay in receiving treatment. An ACP is autonomous in making decisions based on assessment, diagnosis and interpretation of test results and will initiate, evaluate, and modify a range of interventions which may include prescribing medicines, therapies, lifestyle advice and care. The following are the core responsibilities of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner. We require: A masters degree or equivalent in the relevant area of expertise; that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competencies For advanced practice pharmacists only: qualified from an approved 18-month training pathway or equivalent and qualified as an independent prescriber For Advanced Clinical Practitioner Nurses only: have either graduated from a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc advanced practice programme or completed the Centres ePortfolio (supported) Route; both pathways enable eligibility for an Advanced digital badge issued by the Centre, demonstrating recognised educational and experiential preparation in advanced practice The successful candidate would have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on an expanded role and scope of practice caring for patients. For Advanced Nurse Practitioner: The successful candidate will practice autonomously, within their speciality and be able to provide patient-centred care.
