Job description Job responsibilities Clinical Demonstrate clinical expertise in the delivery of direct nursing care acting as a role model to the nursing team and demonstrating partnership with patients. Work at an advanced level of practice within the specialist area demonstrating autonomous decision making. Able to take a comprehensive patient history, assess and plan an episode of care, working in partnership with others and referring as appropriate. Using expert knowledge and clinical skills to support patients through their SACT treatment, be able to assess patients and make clinical decisions refer to an appropriate specialist when required. For patients requiring therapeutic medications and treatments, and after approval from the Trusts respective Non-Medical Prescribing Lead, the post-holder will prescribe medications safely and effectively in line with their scope of practice, utilising local or organisational guidelines, national guidelines, and adhering to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Prescribing Standards, and NMC guidelines. Management and Leadership Manage the nursing in the team, ensuring the safe and effective staffing levels at the appropriate skill mix are maintained, including the co ordination of leave and duty rotas and the maintenance of accurate records, liasing with the lead chemotherapy nurse where the appropriate skill mix cannot be maintained. Ensure the appropriate use of the staff and non staff budget and Trust Funds in the team, being aware of the resource implications of clinical and managerial decisions and ensuring cost effectiveness.
