The Role As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with their health and medical needs throughout the school day. This role involves working closely with students who may have chronic health conditions, disabilities, or require assistance with day-to-day medical care. Key Responsibilities Health Monitoring: Provide care for students with medical conditions, including managing medication, monitoring health needs, and responding to emergencies when necessary. First Aid: Administer first aid and respond to any incidents that require immediate medical attention. Medical Support Plans: Work with the school’s pastoral team to implement and maintain individual healthcare plans for students, ensuring they receive the appropriate care. Emotional Support: Provide reassurance and emotional support to students dealing with health challenges, helping them feel comfortable and safe at school. Collaboration: Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure all aspects of a student’s health and wellbeing are managed effectively. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student care, medication administration, and any medical incidents that occur. What We’re Looking For Health Care Experience: Prior experience in a health care assistant role, ideally in an educational or paediatric setting, is essential. First Aid Certification: Up to date first aid qualifications, or a willingness to obtain this through training, is required. Compassion and Empathy: A caring and supportive attitude, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff. Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents about health-related matters. Organised and Proactive: Able to manage time effectively, respond quickly in emergency situations, and maintain detailed records.
