JOB DIMENSIONS With the support of the clinical trials team, to proactively manage each trial through the set up process - including checking dispensing procedures, setting up trial specific electronic prescribing templates and assisting in aseptic set up of trials where appropriate. To deliver training to and support development of Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists in all aspects of clinical trails and investigational medicinal product (IMP) management. Provide a specialist clinical pharmacist service to patients and the multidisciplinary team within a given speciality. Ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely and cost effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures, and medicine legislation. Supervise, along with other members of their multidisciplinary team, the development and implementation of treatment protocols, and guidelines for use of drugs within the clinical area. Participate in evening, weekend and bank holiday pharmacy service on a rotational basis, and where contracted, the emergency duty service. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacist with an interest in clinical trials to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team. A background in clinical trials is not essential as full training will be provided This is a split role with 60% of time working with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and 40% as a clinical pharmacist covering specialist areas within the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team You will work collaboratively with the rest of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team,research colleagues and external trial sponsors to set up studies and contribute to the on-going management of current trials You will also work with the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team providing clinical pharmacy services to adult specialities at LGI There are a range of medical, surgical and highly specialist areas including neurosciences, cardiology,and major trauma This post will be primarily based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) where research active areas include cardiology, neurosciences, paediatric medicine and paediatric oncology. It is an exciting time to work in research as work is underway on developing two new state of the art hospitals with plans to create a world class hub for innovation. This will support the growing number of early phase studies and ATIMPs (Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products) especially within paediatrics Expected Shortlisting Date 21/10/2024 Planned Interview Date 31/10/2024 The main duties for staff working in this role are: To work with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team to ensure the validation and dispensing of clinical trial prescriptions is in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements. To support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team in the review and set up of new clinical trials. This will include checking trial specific documentation and, where applicable, working with the aseptics team to facilitate set up of trial specific worksheets and other relevant documents. To support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team in the ongoing management of clinical trials including processing and implementing amendments. To support the development of Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists within clinical trials and provide them with the knowledge and skills required to appropriately handle clinical trial queries out of hours and in their day-to day work.
