We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated Surgical nursing team within the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This will be based in Same Day Admission Unit. The unit can accommodate up to 14 trolleys & 2 chairs for elective post-operative care. As part of the team you will be responsible for assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the unit environment. You will possess sound clinical skills for assessment of patient’s needs, implementation and evaluation of care which are evidence based. You will have the ability to work to a high clinical standard & ensure post-operative care is maintained. You are required to be forward thinking, flexible and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment. We can expand your skills and knowledge across a diverse range of Surgical patients. Our team will guide and support you whether you are newly qualified nurse, or if you are just new to our unit/department and facilitate learning and education development. As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of a programme of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. The ability to work on your own initiative, without direct supervision but also as part of the integrated team is required. You will be required to work within a flexible shift pattern of both days & long day working. You should possess excellent communication skills and decision making with the evidence of ongoing professional development. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC.
