Here at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust we offer the chance to broaden your experience through a structured rotation programme working in Clinical Pharmacy Services including ward based medicines optimisation services encompassing Acute Medicine, General Medicine, Complex Care and the Surgery. We are fully committed to your training and development to enable you to maximise your potential contribution to patient care. The opportunity to study for a post-graduate diploma alongside the general level competency framework will be available for permanent post-holders subject to funding. To provide a high quality ward based clinical pharmacy service, rotating through 4 month rotations in surgery, medicine, complex care and acute admissions. This includes reviewing drug charts for safety and efficiency, drug history taking and medicines reconciliation, medicine supply, patient medication consultations, medicines optimisation services, discharge medication service (DMS) and any other activities associated with medicines management. To participate in departmental and regional education and training programmes. In particular to undertake study towards obtaining the Certificate/Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice. To provide pharmaceutical advice on both supply and clinical issues to other healthcare professionals as requested. To provide medication related advice to patients, focussing on medicines stopped/started or changed in hospital and side effects profiles enabling them to obtain the maximum benefit from their medicines. To assist in the education and training of pre-registration pharmacists and other staff in training grades. To supervise the daily activities of junior pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.
