Undertakes interpretation of results and provision of reports. Work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to ensure that service needs are met. Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties/Key Results Areas: 1.Continually monitor and maintain high professional standards of Neurophysiological services topatients and may initiate remedial action where necessary. 2.Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure service(s) meet changinghealthcare needs. 3.Provide visible support and assistance to Neurophysiological staff in dealing with difficult and conflicting situations including those that are of a clinical/professional nature. 4.Initiate/participate, plan and implement policies. 5.Plan, perform and interpret a range of basic and advanced Neurophysiological investigations toa high level of competence to patients. This includes, Perform Electroencephalographic (EEG) investigations employing current standard techniques without supervision in the EEG laboratory taking appropriate action(s) where necessary. Also perform EEGs on the ward. Patients of all age groups are seen in the department. Perform emergency EEGs on ITUs. (Intensive Therapy Units), NNUs (Neonatal Units), PICUs (Paediatric Intensive Care Units) or general wards - and appropriate action should be taken where necessary. Perform EEG investigations using specialist techniques. .These include activated recordings, recordings following sleep deprivation, recordings during administration of medication (eg Melatonin), recordings during general anaesthetic, recordings during stimulation of a non routine recording (e.g. Wada testing) Perform long term EEG monitoring and long term EEG and Video monitoring taking appropriate action. Perform Video/EEG Telemetry during sleep deprivation and drug reduction to provoke a seizure, taking appropriate action. Perform all modality evoked potentials taking appropriate action(s) where necessary. (including Visual, brainstem and Somatosensory evoked potentials.
