We are looking for a highly motivated, responsible person with clinical understanding to be able to join our Clinical care group of Surgery, Anesthetics and Critical Care. This is a new position within our Gastroenterology service as a Liver Surveillance Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a new post which currently has limited funding initially until end of March 2025 but with the possibility of extending beyond this. Our Trust is looking to appoint Clinical Lead/Leads for Liver Surveillance for our communities across BHR. There are around 6,200 new liver cancer cases in the UK every year and 8th most common cause of cancer deaths. Over the last decade, liver cancer incidence rates have increased by almost half (45%) in the UK and are projected to rise by 6% in the UK. Around 1,200 cases of liver cancer each year in England are linked with deprivation. Incidence rates for liver cancer are higher in the Asian and Black ethnic groups. 49% of liver cancer cases in the UK are preventable. North Central & North East London region: 42.2% of HCC cases were in the most deprived quintile & 37.6% presented as emergency admission The post holder will be responsible for the effective development and implementation of the Liver Cancer surveillance for patients with Cirrhosis, non-cirrhotic Heb B, NAFLD with moderate liver fibrosis and Compensated Childs Pugh A..There are around 6,200 new liver cancer cases in the UK every year and 8th most common cause of cancer deaths.
