As a junior sister/ charge nurse you will be required to have well developed triage skills and experience coordinating different areas of the emergency department including the resuscitation areas. As well as an 4 bedded resuscitation area, our department has a co-located Urgent Care Centre, a children's CYPU and access to SDEC and AMA for direct referrals. We recognise that training and development opportunities are vital for a happy and competent workforce. This is why we have an ED specific Clinical Practice Education (CPE) team dedicated to the development of our nurses to support a modern career framework. You will be supported every step of the way by our senior nurses, the CPE team and your colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to role model continuous professional behaviour and demonstrate through personal behaviour the core values of the Trust. They will be keen, approachable and possess a friendly manner towards patients, nursing and multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping the band 7 team with the continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience. As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties. The Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them. The Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team leader with managing their own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential. As a band 6 sister charge nurse in our busy Emergency Department, you will have the opportunity to work in all areas including children's CYPU alongside the registered children's nurses to increase your skill set and competency. {C} You will be activity involved in retention and recruitment.
