Were looking forward to hearing from you! An exciting opportunity has become available for a 12-month secondment to cover maternity leave for a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist band 6. Haematology at Wythenshawe hospital is based on our friendly haematology day unit, within reach care to inpatients. Care is Consultant led with the support of the Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist, advanced nurse practitioners and a Ward Manager. There are 3 full time consultants and 4 haematology nurses. The day unit is open Monday to Friday. Conditions treated include high- and low-grade lymphomas, myeloma and chronic leukaemias as well as a range of non-malignant conditions. MDTs take place with Trafford and MRI weekly. Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patient's needs. Undertake comprehensive health care needs of patients, changing treatment plan as necessary. Provide psychological support for individuals and carers, identifying and involving the appropriate multi-disciplinary services in order to ensure that the individual needs of the patient are met. Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in their specialty. Able to interpret information and take appropriate action and lead others to do so. Advise and support patients to manage their symptoms, giving highly specialist advice as appropriate Provide specialist care , knowledge and expertise, whilst being continually aware of the importance of empowering colleagues to ensure dissemination of knowledge and best practice.
