We have a well established education team which allows the development of all the staff in the department and we actively encourage progression and promotion. You will have comprehensive experience in Emergency Medicine and work well as an integral member of the MDT and be responsible for coordinating the shifts under the guidance of a Clinical B7, or working flexibly throughout the department. Working clinically to oversee the flow within the Emergency Department using specialist knowledge of Emergency Nursing to provide clinical and professional leadership to the nursing team. Ensure effective communication is maintained at department level Supporting junior colleagues during the shift and as a team leader Liaising with the wider MDT and outside agencies such as SWASFT to maintain safety and to ensure patient flow throughout the department Making decisions regarding clinical and personnel issues on a shift by shift basis Assisting as required to develop the service and team to ensure high quality care is deliverable and appropriately implemented Delivering upon requests made by departmental Matron Working under guidance and in conjunction with the departmental Matron Following the Department’s and Trust’s Policies and Protocols to ensure the safety of the department The nursing team in the Emergency Department consists of both Adult and Paediatric qualified nurses and works alongside Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Paramedic Practitioners who manage the Minor Injuries service within the department, supported by very capable and knowledgeable Assistant Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants. The medical team and nursing team work together to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Led by an experienced Emergency Nurse, the Education Team not only facilitates in-house training for the clinical skills required by nurses within the Emergency Department, but is also very responsive to the developmental and educational needs of all the staff on an individual basis, and are an invaluable asset to the team.
