The department, serving a diverse local population of approximately 270,000, aims to deliver high-quality care to elderly patients. The role spans both the Acute Trust and Primary Care Trust settings, involving a range of responsibilities and opportunities This role will have a focus on leadership, quality improvement and care provision. On the ward the successful candidate will be expected to provide senior house officer level support and care to patients under the guidance of seasoned medical experts. They will be expected to collaborate with a team of experienced consultants and junior doctors and with the wider MDT team with the aim of providing excellent patient care. A key part of this role is in leadership and improvement, working with other ward staff to improve flow, teamwork and provision of care within the ward. The postholder will have the chance to work closely with senior managers and understand some of the patient related challenges that are faced daily. Formal teaching and guidance on the IQ process will be provided and the postholder will be expected to display a proactive attitude towards identifying and initiating improvement projects. Time will be set aside to allow them to assist and lead on national audits and clinical outcomes reporting.
