GSL Education are seeking a number of Support Workers to work at our Client School in York starting as soon as possible. If you are currently a Support Worker, with an interest of working in the education sector, this job may be for you. Support Worker Responsibilities Assist students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs and social, emotional, and mental health needs on 1:1 small groups basis. Work closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to implement and monitor individualized education plans. Working with the class teachers to develop sensory, speech, language, and communication needs. Provide physical support where necessary, including assistance with mobility, personal care, and feeding. Implement positive behavior strategies and interventions to manage and support students’ behavior. Support Worker Requirements Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher, such as an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. Have at least 6 months experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in a care of school setting. Be a strong and engaging communicator. Be compassionate, caring, and have a genuine desire to help young people overcome their barriers. Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
