You will work under the supervision of a trained nurse and will be supported in your role as a HCA. You will work as part of a team with the Multidisciplinary team within Neonatal and Maternity services to ensure high standards of quality care provision on the Neonatal Unit. Main duties of the job You will provide nursing care to infants You will operate medical devices required for the care of the infants You will assess the infant's condition and perform vital signs observations You will document and report findings and implement changes in care as instructed You will perform the following clinical procedures Monitor infants vital signs with appropriate device Collect samples of urine, stool and blood and skin swabs according to local practice Perform blood sugar monitoring according to local practice Supported to insert, use and remove gastric feeding tubes as required Initiate basic life support when necessary Provide wholistic support to the infant and their family (i.e nutritional/elimination needs, hygiene) Support the mother's choice of feeding eg Breast/bottle Uphold infection control and prevention standards Working for our organisation The Neonatal Unit at The Princess Royal Hospital is a NNU and consists of 22 cots (2 ITU, 4 HDU and 16 SC). We are part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network. We embrace family-centred care involving parents in all aspects of their baby's care and are proud of the services we deliver. We have a dedicated community team who follows the baby's journey from discharge to HELP parents and family within the community. We have achieved stage 1 BFI accreditation and is currently working towards achieving stage 2.
