The post holder with assist the clinical nurse specialists for the emergency department, inpatient wards and intensive cares in their day-to-day duties including case management, liaison, data entry and teaching. The post holder will work closely with both the named nurse and clinical nurse specialists to continually promote and develop best practice within the trust, including participation in audit, quality improvement, teaching and with training and experience safeguarding supervision. The post holder will work on site at St George's Hospital and may on occasion be requested to travel to partnership meetings, or clinical sites outside of the main trust. Main duties of the job The safeguarding team at St George's works across the Trust providing expert knowledge, advice and liaison for children, young people and families at risk of or experiencing vulnerability or harm. We work closely with the hospital clinical teams, and safeguarding partners including children's social services, police, primary care, maternity services and community health to improve outcomes for children and families. As a tertiary referral centre for children, St George's provides a wide range of specialisms across medicine, surgery and therapies. We are a regional major trauma centre for children, and provide level three neonatal and paediatric intensive care. The associate safeguarding nurse will support the safeguarding clinical nurse specialists (CNS), Named Nurse and Named Dr in the delivery of advice, care and education to promote safeguarding of children and young people at St George's hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in safeguarding to 'step into' the specialism and develop knowledge and skills in the management of safeguarding concerns, quality improvement and safeguarding education.
