A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time forward thinking individual to undertake the role of Senior Healthcare Support Worker within the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit- East at Woodend Hospital. The successful post holder will work alongside the registered nurses, practicing a variety of clinical skills and supporting the delivery of high quality care. They will also work alongside other multidisciplinary team members such as OTs, Physios and Speech and language therapists. Stroke Rehabilitation East is a 14 bedded unit which has capacity to increase by four beds to accommodate up to 18 patients. The unit cares for patients of a variety of ages and severity of stroke with the aim to rehabilitate them back to baseline function where possible. Discharge planning can often be complex and the Senior Healthcare Support Worker will work alongside the Registered Nurse to organise and facilitate this. Clinical skills required include undertaking NEWS, blood glucose monitoring, wound care, assistance with activities of daily living as well as taking the direction from the therapy team to assist patients in their rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be fully supported with training and developing their skill and knowledge base. The post will be 11.5 hour shifts three times a week and one week of 4 11.5h shifts. There will be day and night rotation and can consist of weekday and weekend shifts.
