We have various flexible positions available. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, sleep in shifts, Bank Holidays & Public Holidays. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra. This service is the home of 49 residents with physical disabilities. As an Extra Care service, the individuals we support here are 55+and live in their own self-contained flat. As a Care Worker you will take a person-centred approach with our valued residents to ensure they are living their life to the fullest. You will support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support and personal care. The team understand that everyone is unique. Tailored care is designed to meet the individual needs and wishes of each resident at the home. Staff are highly trained and understand the importance of enabling people to keep control of their lives. You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including: Medication administration Cooking skills and other household skills Accessing the community and supporting to local groups Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities Being a team player and having good communication skills Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard Supporting individuals to budget finances Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence. Taking the people we support out and about therefore a full driving licence is preferable Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working. Supporting Individuals with their individual needs What skills and experience do you need? A background of working with older people with dementia is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.
