NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health care support worker to join our Surgical and Vascular teams here at QEUH. You will be working alongside our nursing team providing essential care to our patients with varied Vascular and surgical conditions. In our 28 bedded wards, you will provide care and meet the needs of a wide variety of patients within your remit. You will also be required to rotate to the 7 bedded Vascular annex. This may include complex care needs including pre and post-operative care and early rehabilitation. A fundamental part of the role is to communicate with the Multidisciplinary team in enhancing the patient journey. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and the registered nurses but should be able to work on your own merit supervised by the wider nursing team. A qualification in Health and social care is preferred. Experience in health or social care would be beneficial. Development will be encouraged as part of your ongoing career with the NHS. You will be working a fully rotational shift pattern of 12 hour days and nights.
