We are a referral centre for minor surgery in the locality and have an established and well-regarded primary care minor surgery centre however due to our success we are now looking to take on more clinicians to help with the workload. Minor surgery is done under local anaesthetic and practitioner will be working independently with the assistance of a member of the nursing team. Procedures are minor and any candidate will be expected to be work efficiently and complete procedures within the 30-minute allocated slots. The post holder will be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting the privacy, dignity and choice of individual patients. The work will be mostly during social working hours during the week with no on calls but there may be the opportunity to work on Saturdays coming up. The role will involve undertaking minor surgical (principally dermatological procedures) on a primary care population. Tasks include but are not limited to: Triaging minor surgical procedures Consenting patients and pre-operative assessment Skin surgery on lumps, bumps and low risk BCC skin cancers Follow up and wound care as necessary Audit of care and procedures Working closely with our practice nursing team, other doctors at the practice including community dermatology team and a range or practice administrative staff. Making appropriate referrals to secondary care if necessary. No on call/duty sessions or seeing patients with undifferentiated problems. "}
