Our Inpatient and Feeding Speech and Language Therapy Team are looking for an experienced SLT to join them . We are currently recruiting to a 1.0 whole time equivalent band 6 permanent position. You would join our innovative and supportive team of 11 SLTs and a SLT Assistant. The team provides feeding and communication input to all 23 inpatient wards and 9 specialist outpatient feeding clinics. The inpatient and feeding team are part of the wider SLT department at GOSH comprising over 30 therapists.If you have postgraduate experience in the specialist assessment and management of both communication and swallowing difficulties in paediatrics as well as an enthusiasm for cutting-edge evidence-based practice, patient and family focused care, collaborative team working, quality improvement and innovation and digital transformation, we would very much like to hear from you. Great Ormond Street Hospital is a world-famous paediatric hospital which delivers tertiary and quaternary level care to children with complex and often low-incidence medical conditions, in partnership with local, national and international providers and families. Please see attached Full advert To provide a specialist speech and language therapy service for in-patients with feeding and communication disorders arising from a wide range of rare and unusual conditions ensuring the highest standard of clinical care. To provide specialist knowledge in the selection, appropriate application and interpretation of objective investigations of the oral-motor and pharyngeal aspects of feeding. To counsel and advise patients, parents, and caregivers regarding congenital, acute onset and chronic feeding/communication problems and their consequences, sometimes in emotive and ethical situations regarding possible treatment options, including palliative care and quality of life issues and possible long term outcomes. To liaise regularly with the SLT line manager and use the Department's established supervision systems regarding service provision and more complex clinical case management To take responsibility for the management of onward referrals, in collaboration with senior colleagues, assuring timely response to referring agency, in liaison with the SLT admin team To participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate speech and language therapy clinical training, and the teaching and training of other staff of different disciplines, in consultation with the Team Leader/Clinical Expert and Head of Speech and Language Therapy.
