Main duties of the job Under the supervision of the Consultant provide to the care of patients in the department with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury. Referral of patients to appropriate in-patientfacilities as appropriate. Involvement in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings. Teaching and supervision of junior staff as appropriate. Involvement in relevant administration duties (e.g.in rota schedules). Active involvement in audit and clinical governance. Play an active role in the day-to-day management and administration of the department. So far asis consistent with the discharge of the above duties, the post-holder shall undertake to deputise for absent colleagues, when the post-holder deputises outside his/her normal contracted duties and commitment, an equivalent amount of off duty shall be given. The post-holder undertakes to be available for such irregular commitments outside normal reserved duties as are essential for the continuity of patient care.
