We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. The shift pattern for this position is 0850-1700/0950-1800. This post is an exciting opportunity to develop the technician role within pharmacy services. You will be an integral member of the north sector pharmacy team where we are at the forefront of developing technical services towards advanced practice with focus on the patient journey from admission to discharge. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and highly motivated pharmacy technician keen to develop their clinical knowledge and skills within a supportive environment and work to provide high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical care to inpatients. You will be involved in obtaining and documenting accurate medication histories, providing patient education on high risk medicines, facilitating and streamlining both the admission and discharge process at ward level, working with the multidisciplinary team, liaising with GPs, Community Pharmacies and other members of the Primary Care team. You will be integral to the development of technical services and the extended roles of the pharmacy technician. The post holder will provide support to the dispensary as an accuracy checker and ward based activities so a hybrid technical role, supporting the provision of Pharmacy services to both inpatients and outpatients. The post holder will be required to be involved in the training and development of pharmacy support workers, pre-registration pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists. You will be offered training for this post with our robust training package and have a key role in developing the technical roles towards advanced practice. You must be self-motivated with a positive, flexible attitude and be able to maintain, develop and use your own professional judgement and skills for the benefit of the patients. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have an accredited dispensary checking technician qualification (ADCT).All accredited final accuracy checking qualifications will be considered. You should have significant post-qualification experience and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to organise and prioritise workload. The post holder will be required to participate in weekend working and public holidays. The post holder will also be required to cover on other sites within the North Sector including Vale of Leven Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital as and when required.
