It takes all types of volunteer donors to make the donations we need, and it takes all types of people to ensure our life saving work goes ahead. Come and work with us at what is an exciting time to join NHSBT, our brand-new Blood Donation Centre is opening in the centre of Brighton - BN1 4BE and will be your place of work. But don’t worry- we are looking for you to start with us as soon as possible so until our new centre opens, you will join our mobile session and will be based initially at BN43 6RJ. The Donor Centre will be open 7 days a week, with a mixture of early and late shifts across the week. Full day shifts are 10 hours (including breaks), with early shifts being 8:00am 6:00pm, and late shifts 10:30am 8:30pm- but there are never any night shifts here! Work-life balance is important to us, and we welcome applications from candidates who would consider flexible working, for example fixed days, fixed shifts, or part shift coverage. When you join us, we will fully train you and you will have 8 weeks dedicated training at one of our other mobile donation teams. Ideally you will complete your training on a full-time basis if possible, however this is flexible and will be discussed with you on an individual basis. All interviews for this role will be held face to face and you will need to be able to attend the session visit in person. Main duties of the job In this role you will work as part of a multi-skilled team to provide a professional, caring, customer focused service to our volunteer blood donors. Your day to day responsibilities will include:- Supporting the Sister/Charge Nurse in the delivery of care to our volunteer blood donors, by providing direct supervision to all Donor Carer staff. Working with the Sister/Charge Nurse for the supervision of all on-session activity. Assisting with the supervision of the vehicle load and unload, the session set up and session related paperwork Reporting to the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, providing off-session support through a range of administrative and other ‘back-office’ activities required to support the team Supporting the Sister/Charge Nurse in organising session activities and deploying team members to maintain a customer focussed experience for the donor, ensuring that Every donor receives a warm welcome. Individual donors needs and expectations are identified, respected, and valued. Every donor feels appreciated, thanked, and encouraged to return. Handling blood bags, needles and a range of equipment (objects up to 13 kgs) on a regular basis About You Experience and Knowledge Experience in dealing with the public and delivering quality customer care Able to demonstrate supervisory and leadership skills in a similar role or healthcare setting Experience of dealing with sensitive or confidential matters Experience in delivering quality care and service to donors or patients in a similar healthcare setting Experience of working with Information Technology information technology such as digital hand-held devices and Microsoft Office packages Qualifications And Training NVQ Level 4 in Customer Service, Business or equivalent qualification OR equivalent work experience (see Experience and Knowledge above) Willingness to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training Please view the attached recruitment profile which is a summary of the detailed Job Description and Person Specification for the full personal attributes we require for the role.
