An opportunity has arisen in the Woodlands Day Unit at Whipps Cross Hospital. The Day unit treats patients with malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions and offer supportive treatments to a wider group of Oncology patients . Treatments include Intravenous and Oral Systemic Anti-Cancer treatments ,Blood products ,hormone injections ,CVC line care , IV Infusions . We also deliver intravenous therapies to Rheumatology and Gastroenterology patients . We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Chemotherapy Nurse to join our small team. You will be working as part of the Multi disciplinary team and have good communication and organisational skills in order to coordinate the safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group. You should have at least two years relevant experience at Band 5 or above. This must include experience of chemotherapy administration, cannulation and venepuncture . You should also hold a relevant post registration qualification, for example a Chemotherapy/Oncology/Haematology Course. Email sare.hewitt@nhs.net To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team. As a proficient practitioner in SACT care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. He / she will also provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff. He/she also takes charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility. The post holder will be asked to perform the Nurse coordinator at times – coordinating all the prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations in advance, so that treatment production /dispensary occurs in a timely manner.
