There is democratically elected SAS chair representing all the SAS doctors helping in improving the working conditions and the patient care they provide. The group communicates formally and informally on a regular basis. Mr Farshid Jtehadi , the SAS Chair is contactable by email. The is a dedicated SAS tutor for the trust. The trust fully committed to implement SAS charter, a policy based on the national SAS charter. We would like to invite candidates to apply for the post of substantive Specialty Doctor in Intensive Care Medicine. Previous experience in the speciality is essential and candidates should be able to work independently in intensive care. The supervision of the post holder is shared between all Consultants. The majority of your clinical time will be allocated to critical care unit under supervision of critical care consultant, but will be required to participate in on-call rota with indirect supervision of consultant. In these circumstances the on-call critical care consultant will be available for advice and assistance if necessary. Experienced Doctors may occasionally be required to shadow, supervise and support new core trainees or specialty trainees as part of their on-call commitment but the on-call duties are for Intensive Care. The day after each night on call is free of clinical commitments. These duties are only a guideline and it must be clearly understood that they may be subject to change from time to time, according to the needs of the department. The department runs a full shift pattern with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave. The full-time post is for 10-13 PAs per week depending on the agreed job plan. The department works very closely with department of Anaesthesia and shares on-call doctors from Anaesthesia department. This post will be based at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow and will be responsible for providing high quality, responsive intensive care services to patients at The Princess Alexandra Hospital assuming responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with Consultant colleagues.
