There is an active academic programme, and the format of the post is similar to those currently approved for SpR (StR) training, however, the post does not carry educational approval. Trust posts are most suitable for candidates who wish to build on previous experience in paediatric surgery by spending a year in a busy clinical and academic department. Based in central London, GOSH offers flexible working, help with childcare and travel, excellent training and development opportunities and assistance with finding somewhere to live. Main duties of the job Main duties and responsibilities The post provides wide experience in the management of children, including neonates, who need specialist paediatric surgical treatment. The post holder will participate in a 1 in 8 on call rota deal with emergency admissions and cover the inpatients out of hours, they would be expected to take responsibility for the ward inpatients as well as participating in outpatient clinics and theatre lists. The work of our registrars is closely supported and supervised by the departmental consultants.
