The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a temporary role to run until 31/12/2024, requiring approximately 30 hours per week, between the hours of 7.30am - 7pm Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying 12.67ph. That's why our purpose is 'to make sustainable living commonplace\" Job Purpose We are seeking to appoint a laboratory housekeeper who can work safely and efficiently both individually and as part of the team in our well-equipped and busy department. Some relevant experience working in a laboratory environment with glassware and hazardous chemicals is desirable however, training will be provided. To provide support within the laboratories, through maintaining the cleanliness of equipment, laboratories and preparation areas. Key Skills/tasks Maintain high lab standards with regards to safety and housekeeping. Ensuring benches are stocked (daily) with glassware and consumables. Cleaning benches and glassware and removing any waste items. Management of consumables stock. Maintaining tidiness of all cupboards. Cleaning laboratory sinks and work areas. Clearing drying racks, putting away glassware and apparatus and ensuring that stocks in each laboratory are sufficient. Working together with the technicians to ensure that the maintenance and cleanliness of laboratories and equipment is always suitable to be able to work efficiently and safely. Other jobs of a similar nature, when required. Experience Communicate effectively with other people in a working environment. Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment Ability to organise materials, equipment and other resources. Prioritise and organise time effectively and work positively in response to a high workload or requests made at short notice Work accurately with attention to detail. Work independently at times and be able to use own initiative. Contribute to and work effectively within a team environment. Proficient IT skills e.g. Microsoft tools (Excel, Word) Candidates need to be able to stock the laboratories before or after most people start or finish work. Standard lab hours are 08:00 - 18:00.
