This role will give you the opportunity to gain experience in managing a large department and become a key member of the Hospital Services management team. Main duties of the job In this role you will be responsible for the day to day management of the staff and workload of the Hospital Services Department to deliver efficient and effective 24/7 Hospital Services to a defined number of hospital users and Stock Holding Units (SHU). Your responsibilities will include Maintaining the auditability of blood, blood components and other goods as they are safely and efficiently imported and exported from the department. Ensuring the team complies with regulatory and statutory requirements at all times and that local practice and service development is in line with regional direction and national strategy. Training and developing colleagues within the team to deliver an excellent customer service that meets quality standards and is focussed on continuous improvement. Maintaining adequate stock level of all blood and components in the Hospital Services Department to supply all customers and SHU’s. Ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and maintained for optimum performance. Ensuring the department is able to respond correctly to any emergency situation, product recall or other unplanned event. Representing the local Hospital Services department at various meetings on a range of topics including customer relations and provide technical advice to internal and external service users. Deputising for the Hospital Services Manager as and when required You will be required to provide cover in times of operational difficulty with notice About You Experience and Knowledge Experience of logistics and supply chain management at supervisor or managerial level Supervisory experience including recruitment, training, development and motivation of staff Experience of quality improvement initiatives Experience of working in a customer focused environment Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Qualifications And Training Willingness to undertake a Masters level qualification in Management or Transfusion Science within 1 year of taking up post, subject to funding availability Significant study of management techniques Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD) Please view the attached recruitment profile which is a summary of the detailed Job Description and Person Specification for the full personal attributes we require for the role.
