The Role The Department of Wellbeing, Therapeutic and Residential Life Services is seeking to appoint a Student Wellbeing Officer to work within the Wellbeing team. Student Wellbeing is now an integral part of a larger team which encompasses both the University Therapeutic service, Residential life and Chaplaincy : all of which are critical to a positive student experience. The Student Wellbeing Officer will play a key role in promoting and supporting the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of their students through the development and delivery of targeted wellbeing projects, events and workshops. The role includes promoting awareness and understanding of wellbeing issues within the student community, conducting outreach activities to engage students, and assisting in the creation and distribution of wellbeing resources. This position involves organising and conducting workshops on various topics such as homesickness, exam stress, and transitioning to university life. The Officer will collaborate with academic staff, university therapeutic services, and external organisations to ensure a comprehensive and targeted approach to student support. The Wellbeing Officer will also monitor and assess the effectiveness of wellbeing programs through feedback and data analysis to ensure continuous improvement. Skills And Qualifications Proactive individual with a background in fields such as health promotion, health research, and/or mental health. Demonstrable experience in leading wellbeing projects is essential, as is experience in delivering workshops. A key part of this role involves managing the Wellbeing Student Connector Programme to ensure this resource is utilised effectively to enhance the overall student experience. They are therefore looking for someone with highly developed organisational skills and confidence in providing training and leadership. Confident and good at networking, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners. Partnership working with agencies related to issues faced by students such as mental health, substance use and sexual health, will be particularly important for this role. Strong administrative skills with an emphasis on both written and oral communication. Excellent IT skills are necessary including a good working knowledge of social media platforms and confidence in using them. Using social media effectively to engage with the student population is a key component of the role. Enthusiasm for ensuring students thrive at university is crucial, and the ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact on student wellbeing. The successful candidate will be required to work both independently and as part of a team, therefore, an ability to take initiative, coupled with strong social skills that enable effective collaboration, are essential attributes for this role.
