They will support multidisciplinary colleagues to consider and understand how pre-existing mental health needs may be impacted by chronic pain, by sharing psychological formulations, knowledge and expertise. Be accountable and responsible for the assessment of care needs and outcomes for patients presenting to the Chronic Pain clinic including how psychological distress may impact on patients’ engagement with the chronic pain service. Patients may present with a wide variety of pre-existing clinical conditions in addition to chronic pain. These assessments will be conducted as an individual and as part of the multi-professional team. The Post-holder Will The post holder will have relevant clinical qualification and registration with an appropriate professional body In addition to the clinical skills of their registered profession, they will have theoretical knowledge of psychological ways of working, deploying a wide range of theoretical approaches and utilise a wide variety of clinical skills appropriate to the needs of individual patients and the clinical setting in which they are required to be seen. 3 Be accountable and take direct responsibility for carrying out specialist assessments including risk assessments unsupervised. Develop, implement, evaluate and document specialist care. To be able to assess and develop plans of care to meet the complex needs of patients with a variety of conditions. 4 Work closely with the chronic pain team and maintain good working practices with the wider CHPS service. 5 Make autonomous decisions using clinical judgement to identify suitable courses of action to provide and manage high quality care. For this to include the referring of patients to appropriate community mental health and third sector services based on an analysis of complex presenting problems, and judgement about available options within agreed protocols. Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. High Cost Area Supplement - London This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).
