Main duties of the job The new Critical Care facility opened in Spring 2022. The facility has spacious, light-filled patient accommodation, 8 negative pressure isolation rooms with positive pressure lobbies, a state-of-the art simulation suite and large multidisciplinary seminar and handover room with high-definition screens for teaching and video conferencing. It houses a large staff common room and rest facilities, on-call rooms and extensive office space. East Kent Critical Care is a vibrant department, admitting around 1,000 patients each year. Many come to us after suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and in cardiogenic shock, allowing our clinicians to use their strong clinical expertise in echocardiography and point of care ultrasonography. The unit is equipped with the latest technology, including echocardiography equipment and Intellivent Adaptive Support Ventilation. The department has a strong reputation for ultrasound and echocardiography training, and a burgeoning research portfolio.
