Please note this post is also advertised as a part-time post at Cygnet Hospital Colchester (CYG35973) and only 1 post is available. This role will be working at the following locations: Cygnet Community Services (3 days per week) supporting eight* care homes for people with a learning disability and/or autistic people on a referral system, you will visit the homes on rotation, providing essential training and embedding the five good communication standards. Cygnet Hospital Colchester (2 days per week) you will work on one of our three wards for people with a learning disability and / or autistic people as the named SLT and under the supervision of an onsite highly specialist SLT. You will also have an SLT assistant to support you in your role. Job Role As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will have a unique opportunity to support the development and delivery of an evidence-based SLT service to meet the needs of the complex client group. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use expert skills to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting, implementing and embedding functional communication systems; this is a hands-on role with high levels of contact with individuals in the care of the service. You will be able to train others, promote good practice and maintain a successful inclusive communication environment. Postgraduate qualification in the management of dysphagia is desirable but we are able to provide you with accredited training if this is an area for your personal development if required.
