This post is Royal College approved Consultant level duties in the otolaryngology department with ward rounds, outpatient sessions, theatre sessions supervision of middle grade and junior staff and on-call duties in a rota with colleagues. Working collaboratively with colleagues on service development and improvement.Administrative duties as required within the Directorate. Cover of colleagues' leave. Participation in clinical audit, clinical governance and CEPDappropriate to experience at Consultant level, together with contribution to education and training of medical students and junior staff. We receive medical students both from Birmingham Medical School and from St George's medical School Grenada, West Indies. The medical school finals for the agenda block, which includes ENT, are held three times annually at Russell's Hall and is the only major medical school examination held outside Birmingham. A colleague willing to assist in examining would be expected. The department has links with Ophthalmology via Mr Mathews for DCR work and has monthly specialist Vertigo and monthly specialist voice clinics. Snoring work is undertaken in combination with Respiratory and Orthodontic departments. . The post holder will undertake their timetable at Russell's Hall Hospital and Stourbridge Community ENT service where required. The department at Russell's Hall performs a wide range of ENT Surgery. The post holder will undertake a full range of general ENT work and will be encouraged to develop special interest in head and neck diagnostic cancer service as well as thyroid surgery and paediatrics.
