Also, you will support the business H&S Manager and total Management Team in identifying areas for continuous improvement and implementing using best practice as the norm. The role is hybrid working with 3 days in the office or on-site visits, and 2 days working from home. Main Responsibility Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements Record and investigate incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the pharmaceutical / distribution industry Engage staff in the workplace with use of H&S notice boards and open door policy Inform H&S reps of the monthly meetings and keep them informed of any changes to the details Produce monthly meeting presentation and support / chair the meetings Produce and send out the monthly minutes to mangers and H&S reps for them to brief out Ensure staff are trained by competent trainers All mandatory training is up to date and staff or competent in relation to statuary regulations Arrange for training to ensure first aiders, fire wardens and safety reps meet the statuary requirements One point of contact (previous knowledge preferred) - value add spending time working with NFU providing information needed to support and defend claims Reduce claims / Solicitor / legal costs Act as a role model with the business, delivering root cause analysis & mitigating risk & reoccurrence Planning ahead and working with peers to ensure mandatory training and competencies within operational areas are met and adhered to Negotiating skills to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain safety standards that may compromise speed or efficiency in the organization The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately An interest in the law and the ability to understand safety regulations Key knowledge and skills required for the role: NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards Can work on their own initiative or as part of a team Thrives on a challenge in a changing environment Is analytical, but has a flexible approach to working A team player but able to work under own initiative and able to escalate matters out of own limitations Proactive - has a \"can do\" attitude and seeks out information when require Ability to organise and prioritise workload Good stakeholder management and communication skills Able to build and develop good quality, professional relationships Ability to work openly and collaboratively to maximise overall organisational health Competence in training delivery an advantage Proficient IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint Comfortable with data analysis and numerical reasoning Capacity to learn Full UK driving licence with own car The Ideal Candidate Well are proud to be a diverse and inclusive employer.
