Balgonie Ward is a Recovery and Adaptation ward which provides rehabilitation for older adults and facilitates complex discharge planning in the Community Hospital setting. We are seeking to recruit a nurse who will develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly and work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and consultant geriatrician to promote a positive patient journey. You will be joining a supportive team in an environment which ensures ongoing professional development opportunities for all staff. You will be encouraged to gain skills in Immediate Life Support, Acute Illness Management, IV Medicine Administration, Catheterisation, Venepuncture and dementia care. You will demonstrate a keen interest and motivation for caring for the older person with a focus on patient centered care. The ability to liaise with inter-agency colleagues is essential as is planning and co-ordination of care for effective patient discharge. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
