As Band 3 Health Care Assistant you will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team, providing person-centred, recovery focused interventions under supervision of Registered Nursing staff. A genuine interest in working with people experiencing complex mental health needs and often physical health challenges is essential to the role and applicants should have relevant experience of working in care settings delivering high quality care. You will display a positive attitude towards enhancing the care experience of service users. You will have a willingness to engage in training opportunities to enhance your knowledge base and be able to provide evidence of professional development. A flexible approach to shift patterns will be essential with a focus upon working weekends and night shift. Understands and complies with HCSW mandatory induction standards and code of conduct. Completion and maintenance of statutory & mandatory learning activities. Awareness, understanding and compliance of policies and practices e.g. Escort Policy, Prevention and control of infection and Health and Safety. Can demonstrate knowledge and competence of equipment used within the department to support the Registered Nurse and ensure that they are compatible and in good working order. Will escalate any concerns to a registered nurse. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings. NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly.
