The shift pattern for this position is 4 on 4 off rolling shift pattern (0800-2000, 37 hrs) An exciting opportunity exists within the Facilities department of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be part of the portering Team on the campus which comprises circa 1940 beds spread across a range of specialities including adult and children’s services. The post holder will play a role in ensuring the provision of key support services at this unique and challenging time. The post holder will be a member of the portering service available 24/7 to the patients, staff and visitors of the Hospital and will provide management and supervision on a day-to-day operational basis with responsibility for the provision of Portering services. Working a Four On Four Off Shift Pattern, 08:00-20:00 shift with weekend work and out of hours work, the post holder will have responsibility for ensuring the seamless delivery of Portering services enabling the provision of safe quality patient care, which consistently complies with the NHS, Facilities Scotland and Healthcare Improvement Scotland. The provision of Portering services covers a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas. The post holder will undertake a wide range of Portering management related functions and will provide contact and interface with clinical staff, patients and visitors on a day to day basis. This role will work closely with other Facilities’ services, both locally and corporately to support service delivery. The preferred candidate will have knowledge and practical operational experience on a wide range of non clinical support service functions. You must have the ability to be self-motivated and have a can do, problem solving attitude and you must have the ability to respond to unpredictable/emergency situations although you will receive any essential training required to carry out this role during your induction.
