The service provides highly specialist diagnostic assessment for adults with suspected autism and complex mental health and psychiatric comorbidities. Given the nature of this role, the postholder will gain experience in working with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions, as well as with clients who have experienced trauma and adversity. The team brings together a variety of disciplines including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Psychology. This is a very exciting opportunity to be part of a growing service aimed at reshaping how Autism is understood and supported within the local mental health services. We have several current and ongoing service developmental projects that the post holder will have the opportunity to contribute towards. The post holder will be a member of our multi-disciplinary team and will assist with assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The post holder will assist with clinically related administration, diagnostic assessments, service development and evaluation, audits, and development of training and post-diagnostic materials, all under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. To assist in the formulation and delivery of diagnostic assessments for people with suspected Autism, without Learning Disabilities, and with complex mental health and psychiatric disorders. This will involve supporting the delivery of specialist clinical information gathering from clients and informants, specialist developmental histories interviews, neurodevelopmental clinical interviews, drafting specialist reports and supporting formulation and outcome within the diagnostic process. Specialist training in adult autism assessments will be provided, such as ADOS-2 training. To assist with service level aspects, such as screening and processing referrals to the ASD diagnostic service, liaising with referrers and clients, and service audits and research or service development projects. To assist in the coordination and running of internal and external training.
