The post is 0.4wte and will be based in Ealing. As well as clinical work with older people with a wide variety of mental health problems you will be contributing to the development of the service which is currently in its infancy. As the teams are small there is a need for a flexible approach to psychology provision and we are looking to expand the work we do with the families and carers of people whose our services. It is likely that how we provide psychology services will change over time as the service develops and we better understand the needs of our population. Within the Ealing SOAMHS MDT, the post holder will have joint responsibility for the provision of psychological assessment and treatment to individuals with complex mental health needs who may also have co-existing physical and social needs. They will be responsible for developing psychological provision within these new teams. The post holder will supervise qualified psychologists and help develop skills in the team to increase understanding of the psychological needs of service users and their carers. They will work with colleagues across local services advocating for both the role of psychology within the MDTs and the specific needs of older people with our community partners The post holder will contribute to the development of SOAMHS as it expands to support people who may not traditionally been supported by secondary mental health teams.
