Support the safe and efficient delivery of the school-based immunisationprogramme as directed by Welsh Government. Increase local uptake of childhood immunisations to meet national and regional targets. To assist in national and local catch up campaigns to improve uptake. This will include the routine immunisation schedule, and offering vaccinations in response to emergency situations should they arise, e.g. MMR. To contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of immunisationprogrammes to school age children. To administer immunisations, vaccinations and adrenaline if needed, according to Powys Health Board's Patient Group Directives. To ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality assured, evidence-based practice e.g. safe cold chain storage of vaccines, and disposal of clinical waste. Assist in chasing up those children who have not returned their consent forms. Help to coordinate planned mop-up immunisation sessions, targeting and following up non-immunised children. To actively participate in health education and promotion programmes to school age children/young people and their parents/carers, to improve the uptake of immunisations. Transfer equipment and vaccines to and from sessions. To ensure effective and efficient use of resources. To adhere to the All Wales Child Protection Procedures, in the reporting of safeguarding concerns. TERM TIME ONLY An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a Band 5 Immunisation Nurse for School Aged Children in South Powys during school term time. The work base is yet to be decided however, there will be an expectation that the successful applicant will be willing and able to travel to support colleagues throughout North Powys. Travel expenses will be provided in line with local health board policy. The successful candidate will work with members of the School Nursing Team to organise and deliver the Welsh Government programme of immunisations to the school aged population. The successful applicant must be able to organise his/her own routine and work without day to day supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as is a positive attitude to the public health role that school nurses undertake. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. "}
