Brief Description Are you passionate about occupational health and making a difference? If so, we have an exceptional opportunity for you as a Senior Occupational Health & Wellbeing Specialist. As a Senior Occupational Health & Wellbeing Specialist you will be a crucial part of the regional Health, safety, and Wellbeing team. You will have the chance to shape Network Rail's commitment to ensuring everyone's safety and wellbeing, using your expertise in occupational hygiene, health, and wellbeing. Your role will involve implementing a data-driven, evidence-based approach to health strategies. In this position, you will join the regional Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for leading all aspects of health-related matters. You will work closely with colleagues from different areas to ensure health investment and the effective management of employee well-being. Your strategic insights will play a vital role in mitigating health risks at a broader level, thereby establishing the benchmark for health risk management in the Northwest and Central regions. Please note this role can be based in any North West & Central Region location - Milton Keynes, Birmingham, or Manchester. #LI-SS1 About the role (External) What will you be doing? 1. Providing technical input to improvement projects needed to deliver the occupational hygiene, health, and wellbeing strategy, including, but not limited to, those related to, medical fitness-to-work requirements, drugs and alcohol, mental health, health & wellbeing promotion, health surveillance and the identification, elimination & management of occupational health hazards, working with other functional teams across the route/region where necessary. 2. Leading the planning, implementation, monitoring, and completion of projects related to the improvement of occupational health and well-being management within the route/region where directed by the Health, Safety & Environment Director, Region. 3. Implementing the technical requirements of Network Rail occupational health and wellbeing standards/policies, and issue-specific improvement frameworks where gaps are identified relating to but not limited to, occupational health hazards, health surveillance, drugs and alcohol, and medical fitness-to-work requirements. 4. Acting as the route/region technical expert for occupational hygiene, health, and wellbeing, including supporting the identification of potential future strategy agenda items, occupational health hazards, changes in legislation, or other business risks/opportunities. 5. Providing expert technical advice and guidance on the medical aspects of occupational hygiene, health, wellbeing, and safety across the route/region. 6. Providing technical guidance on the content for interpretation of, and support for ongoing organisational visibility of occupational health and wellbeing-related data and performance metrics so that organisational performance can be measured, and improvement plans embedded. 7. Support the specification and delivery of necessary occupational hygiene, health, and wellbeing services from our in-house and third-party providers to deliver the organisation's occupational health and wellbeing requirements and challenge them to continuously improve, innovate and deliver world-class services to Network Rail managers and employees. 8. Influence the technical input to the occupational health elements of Network Rail's Health and Safety Management Systems, including all occupational health and wellbeing specifications, guidance, and processes. 9. Liaise with the Occupational Health Team in the Technical Authority so that the region/route strategies are aligned with the Network Rail objectives. In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be: (Essential) • Proven experience/expertise in occupational health, safety and well-being working for a large multi-discipline organisation in a senior position. • Registered General Nurse (RGN), or a relevant Occupational Health and Well-being undergraduate or master's Degree We would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be: (Desirable) • Relevant experience in the railway or construction industries • Corporate member of IOSH • Proven experience in ability to develop, implement, and manage multiple projects simultaneously How to apply (External) About our people and the recruitment process - we're an inclusive employer of choice and we welcome applications from everyone!
