They will act as Senior Nurse within the Department which will include Senior Nurse on Triage, 12 bedded Emergency Decisions Unit/ Paediatric Assessment Unit and in our Resuscitation Rooms. The post holder will be the support for our Junior Nursing and Health Care Assistant workforce. The post holder will be expected to undertake the Emergency Nurse Practitioner programme along with the Co-ordinator training programme. Once the training programmes are completed the expectation is that the staff member will be dual trained and able to fulfil both aspects of the role. This post will also involve participation in Service development programmes plus governance related issues and should have an awareness of Emergency Care Government Targets. As a Junior Band 6 Nurse the post holder is responsible for the timely assessment, implementation and evaluation of family centred Care. Maintain high standards of clinical care in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times Responsible for coordinating the nursing team in the Emergency Decisions Unit/ Paediatric Assessment Unit, ensuring patients are discharged or admitted to an inpatient bed in a timely manner to ensure we maintain flow out of the Emergency Department. Ability to Nurse lead discharge and the dispensing of medication. Act as a role model for junior staff and act as a senior resource for clinical advice when dealing with child protection concerns, bereavement or major trauma/illness. To act as the senior Nurse on triage and support junior staff when implementing streaming services. Encourage a culture of shared governance and continuous monitoring of quality improvements To see and treat and diagnose patients attending the ED with Minor injuries within their scope of practice and competence and after completing the ENP course. Maintaining accurate records whilst following guidelines and procedures to provide safe and effective care. Alder Hey Children’s Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park building in the nearby borough of Sefton. Our Emergency Department currently see approximately 70,000 patient per year. We are also a Major Trauma Centre and have a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre.
