We invite your application for the role of Practitioner Psychologist in the Psychiatric Liaison Team and Psychiatric decisions unit. This post represents an exciting opportunity for a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist who would like to develop expertise and experience in an acute hospital service setting. This is a new post that is based in the Liaison Psychiatry Service at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Psychiatric Decisions Unit (PDU), at the nearby Oleaster Centre. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and supportive Acute and Urgent Care Psychological Service within the Trust. The aim of the post is to support and enhance the care of service users, providing highly specialist psychological screening, assessment, and brief interventions. Although the post is full time, applications for part time and flexible working are also encouraged. Tasks Include Offering assessment and psychological treatment for patients; Supporting department staff in offering basic psychological support in their routine clinical practice; Provide Reflective practice and case formulation to the wider MDT Providing audit and service evaluation; You will represent the service both nationally and internationally in our collaborative work as appropriate. You will need to be able to demonstrate a highly developed understanding of the psychological impact of compromised physical health and be able to adapt your psychological interventions accordingly. Experience in working in a physical health setting is desirable, but not essential. You need to have experience of working across the lifespan with individuals and families, and have experience of working across systems and with different professional specialties. You should have experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team. You will be working closely with doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to provide high quality care, and you will need strong skills in consultation, supervision and teaching.
