We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours. Post: Oral Health Improvement-Dental Health Support Worker Location: Various sites across NHS GGC Hours: 25.9 Duration: Until 07/04/2025. Duties The post holder will facilitate access to oral health promotion, dental preventive and treatment services through all Oral Health Improvement Programmes. Duties will include: Support the delivery of Childsmile programmes e.g. toothbrushing, and Fluoride Varnish in nurseries and school. May provide support to vulnerable families in their own homes Provide support to a wider range of establishments including nursing homes, prison, homeless units, community and primary care dental service settings. Minimum Requirements SVQ 3 in Health Care, or working towards, or equivalent experience working with a caring environment/role. The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/agency team Effective written and verbal communication Good organisational skills and an ability to carry out assigned client care and tasks effectively within a busy environment. It would be desirable if the successful candidate held a Childsmile Certificate. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa or health and care worker visa.
