Head of communications, Newham Hospital, Band8a Barts Health NHS Trust is on a journey to deliver safe and compassionate care to more than 6,000 patients every single day across one of the largest Trusts in the UK. In order to better support our group of hospitals, we are looking for a strategic, enthusiastic and highly motivated head of communications to join our busy communications team. Newham hospital serves one of the most deprived boroughs in the country, with a diverse population that is growing dramatically. It has one of the busiest maternity departments in London, hosts the group centre for day case bone and joint surgery, and is developing specialist expertise as a centre for women's health. As a communications team, we are responsible for promoting and defending the reputation of the trust. We do this through providing strategic communications and support to our executive and hospital management teams, proactive and responsive media and stakeholder relations, engaging social and digital channels, creatively promoting our brand and inspiring internal communications. As a head of communications, you will provide strategic communications advice and relationship manager support to our Newham Hospital executive team. As part of our corporate communications team, you will oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive communications strategies for Newham Hospital; contribute to the communications support to the whole of the Barts Health group of hospitals, lead on trust-wide projects and campaigns that support the delivery of our objectives and business decisions; and work closely with the specialist communications experts in the communications team to deliver creative and effective communications strategies. NHS experience is not essential, although it is desirable. People with experience working in a large and complex organisation with multiple sites, or experience working in a large charity would also be viewed favourably. "}
