(University Hospital Crosshouse, University Hospital Ayr and Ayrshire Central Hospital) The majority of the caseload consists of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, but in addition you could be referred patients who have multiple pathologies. As a Physiotherapist in MSK you will have a special interest in the management of musculoskeletal conditions to work within MSK services in NHS Ayrshire & Arran. You will provide direct clinical care, which encompasses physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. You will contribute to the working of a physiotherapy team but be expected to work independently for the majority of the day. There will also be a range of developments opportunities available, alongside structured support from senior MSK clinicians. This post offers developmental opportunities across the 3 sites to gain knowledge in Orthopaedics, Complex Case Clinics, Pain Management, Emergency Department, Rheumatology, Occupational Health, Primary Care Services, and the Specialist Hand Service. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings. NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly.
