Main duties of the job This post is designed for doctors who have completed foundation training who are looking to pursue a career in Anaesthetics or Intensive Care Medicine. They will gain experience in the management of critically ill patients in a supportive environment whilst improving their CV. Successful applicants will work under the close supervision of consultant intensivists and senior trainees. The department is very active in the following areas; teaching, research and point of care ultrasound and echocardiography.- Review of critically ill patients on the ICU, emergency department and hospital wards.- Admitting patients to the ICU under the supervision of the Consultant.- Ordering and interpretation of investigations.- Safe and effective handover between shifts.- Participation in audit, patient safety and morbidity and mortality meetings.- Organisation of multidisciplinary meetings.- Active participation in the teaching programme (which follows the FICM syllabus).
