Its operational capacity is circa 814 Prison Healthcare Is Currently Provided Through A core team of Healthcare staff (Nurses & Pharmacists) currently employed by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) General Medical Service and specialist in-reach services from the UHB. The overarching aim of the Healthcare team is to make a significant contribution to reducing re-offending and improving rehabilitation rates, by proactively improving the health of the prison population and promoting a far greater degree of self-responsibility amongst Prisoners in maintaining their individual health status. Improve the standard of health services available to prisoners to achieve broad equivalence with NHS Wales Deliver health services based on the principles of timely, comprehensive assessment and evidence based practice Reduce or mitigate the effects of unhealthy or high risk behaviors Promote self-responsibility for healthcare and challenge deeply entrenched risk taking behavior amongst the prison population Promote effective links with health and related services in the community to ensure continuity of care as appropriate. Core Job Summary To undertake HCSW duties as required by clinical area reflecting the Fundamental Skills, Supportive Skills and some Additional Skills as detailed in the HCSW Skills Framework To implement prescribed plans of care under indirect supervision of the registered practitioner, assessing the effectiveness of the care provided and feedback the results To undertake non-nursing duties and clerical duties as required in the clinical are To maintain identified clinical environment and equipment to the correct standard of cleanliness and working order To support and supervise more junior colleagues To pass on knowledge and skills and undertake the training and assessment of more junior colleagues The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
