Thorpe Hesley Health Centre is a NHS Properties owned building and they have staff based within the Health Centre. The post holder should be able to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality at all times, be courteous and patient and enjoy working with and for patients. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Opening of surgery, Reception, and all other rooms needed. Running of all aspects of the practice's reception function. Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments and receiving requests for repeat prescriptions. Issuing repeat prescriptions, which have been recorded on the relevant patients computer screen & dealing with any queries relating to prescriptions. Updating patients records. Distributing patient's records to Doctors and Nurses as required. Receiving and updating requests for home visits. Tagging and sorting the medical records. Processing changes of names and address via computer and changing on the front of patients medical records. Register new and temporary patients onto the computer system. Liaise with all Health Service Bodies and other outside agencies. Setting telephone system for normal/out of hours use. Sort letters out for scanning, after they have been checked by the Doctors. Scanning and filing away hospital/medical letters into the patients notes following any entry made on to the computer system. Coding of hospital/medical letters onto the computer system. Arranging post natal appointments and sending out letters. Action and complete tasks as requested by GPs/Nurses etc. Check all relevant sections of workflow manager have been completed on a daily basis. Care Navigation to signpost patients to receive the best care. Filing away prescriptions. Accompanying Doctors when chaperone is required. Check that labelling is correct on forms and specimen bottles for sending to the labs. To undertake personal responsibility in respect of security, fire and Health and Safety. Closing up the building and setting the alarm for security. To cover for any other receptionist on annual/sick leave. To undertake duties as may be determined from time to time, commensurate with the range of activities described above. We are a medium size practice with approximately 7900, andalso training practice with Registrars, and Students. On-going training is provided for all our staff, so they have the most up to date information to complete daily tasks to a high standard. There is also mandatory training which we also complete such as CPR. Our reception team are friendly and helpful to each other, and also to patients, and go out of their way to help everyone. The receptionist role includes: Making and Cancelling Appointments for GP's, Nurses and other clinical staff by telephone and face to face. Issuing Repeat Prescriptions Care Navigating Patients for the most appropriate Care Dealing with Tasks from GP's and outside Agencies Chaperoning when required Contacting outside agencies regarding patients.
